Cathy Riddle Obituary

Cathy Allen Riddle, 50, of New Windsor, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at Carroll Hospice's Dove House after an extended illness. Born Aug. 29, 1960, in Cheverly, she was the daughter of the late Elwood P. and Magnolia Tanner Thurston. She was the wife of Philip A. Riddle, her husband of 30 years. She was a member of the Liberty Church of Westminster. She enjoyed fishing, making crafts and decorating. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are children Susan M. Riddle and Benjamin R. Riddle, both of New Windsor; sisters Rosemary Phelps, of Taneytown and Deborah Stitely, of Union Bridge; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Anthony and Charles Allen. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartzler Funeral Home, 310 Church St., New Windsor. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Liberty Church, 1641 Old Westminster Road, Westminster, with the Rev. Joe Ready, church pastor, officiating. Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg. Memorial contributions may be sent to Carroll Hospice's Dove House, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157. i only meet cathy a couple of times however, she always treated everyone as family and a friend. She helped out many people and did what she could. She always was there and did what she could mostly for her children and others who she treated like her children that were not her own. She will be very missed and my best wishes go to her family.
