Karen and family, I was so sorry to hear about your loss. Mrs. Rhodes was such a nice "gymnastics mom." When I broke and dislocated my elbow in the State Meet during warm-ups she went to the hospital with me. My mother was not yet at the meet. She said the nurses thought Betty was the patient because her face was so red. That was really nice of her to stay with me and be so concerned! I remember that the Rhodes family hosted a Docksiders pool party. That team and their parents were very special.

To the Rhodes family,
I have many fond memories of your mom...sharing her time and laughter with my sister Sharon and I. I remember running on the beach..running carefree...you on the trampoline...her being so proud of both of her children. She always talked about your gymnastics and her Jeffrey ..she was very involved as a parent. It's so wonderful to grow up with so much love and laughter. Your mom loved life..she had an infectious smile and could light up a room. Your mom was very kind to me as a young child..and you never forget when someone is kind and loving.
I know this is a difficult time for you and your family. I wish all of you peace and am praying for all of you. Peace and Prayers
Shelly

Jeff, Karen, and Mr. Rhodes,
So sorry to hear about the passing of your Mom/wife. She was such a great lady! I have many fond memories of evenings spent chatting with her in your Crownsville home. Also enjoyed time spent with her at your Grandparents house both on Ocracoke and on the Severn. She was always so welcoming. Praying for comfort, strength, and peace for all of you.
Fondly,
Chris Hoyer (Dorr)

Paul and I remember Betty very well. Paul's Mom and Dad were also good friends with your Grandmother and Grandfather. That was back when everyone knew everyone in the Harbor and on Long Point, etc,. Now no one knows anybody. Man has this area ever grown . Your Mom was fun and very active in the community. It was great speaking to her on the phone about a month or so ago. She will surely be missed. May God bless you all.

I loved her blueberry peach cobbler! She would make a 12x9 pan and call me when it was ready. I would eat the whole thing in a couple of days, promptly return the empty, and ask her when the next pan would be ready. Sure enough the phone would ring in the next day or two and she would have another pan ready for me. She was a great cook and an even better friend and neighbor. I miss her terribly.
