Michael Maring Obituary



Michael DeWitt Maring, 61, of Woodbine, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at home.

Born Oct. 21, 1952, in Baltimore, he was the son of Aubrey DeWitt Maring and the late Ruth Ellen "Hidey" Maring. He was the husband of Patricia Burgoon Maring.

He had worked for Frall Developers, and later was the permits and inspections bureau chief for Carroll County for 25 years. He enjoyed camping and especially enjoyed farming.

Surviving, in addition to his father and wife, are daughter and son-in-law Gennis and Ted Halmi, of Naples, Fla.; a granddaughter, Marczella Halmi; a brother, Mark Maring, of Woodbine; a sister, Melanie Lundquist, of Woodbine; and nieces Katelyn and Kristyn Lundquist.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Burrier-Queen Funeral Home & Crematory, 1212 W. Old Liberty Road, Winfield.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

I had the privlidge of working with Mike while I too worked for the County. He had a tough job and did a great job at it, gaining the respect of many who came in contact with him even if he didn't see things their way. He's been missed and my sympathies go out to his family.
