Joe Simpson Obituary
Joe Richard Simpson, passed away Nov.6th,2023 in his home in Rathdrum Idaho. He was 78 years old. Joe was born in Spokane, WA to his mother late mother Francis "Gibler" Simpson and his late father Andrew Simpson. Joe Spent the majority of his life living in Rathdrum. At a younger age he spent time in CA, AZ and WA.
He joined the Navy at a early age and served his country for a little over 4 years. He spent most of his adult life supporting the Veterans around the North Idaho area. Joe and others started the VFW in Rathdrum and helped start and support VFW's around the North Idaho area. He was the District commander, grand marshal for a number of parades and made countless trips to Boise to support the VFW in the North Idaho area. He carried this chapter deep in his heart, as he got older he helped any way we could.
Joe moved back to Rathdrum in the early 70's of which he meet his wife of nearly 50 years. He raised two step children as if they were his own. Joe, lost his granddaughter Jennifer, to cancer at the age of 18. Joe had 6 other kids from previous marriage.
His biggest passion was to be outdoors, he loved to hunt, take the 4 wheels out and just spend time in the mountains. Some of that passion of being outdoors was as a child he helped his uncle and cousin log with horses above Hauser Lake.
Joe and his wife had property on the Cda River with family. Joe loved to go up on the river and spend time with cousin's and his wife. Most will tell you he shared many stories some of which they heard many times, but nobody ever said a word. His life the last couple years prevented him to do the things he so dearly missed and loved.
Joe is survived by his wife Dianne Simpson, son Russell Orne, daughter Sheila Orne, sons Joe Simpson, Cody Simpson, Andrew Simpson, Frank Simpson and Scott Simpson.
Joe will be missed by many, he was so full of joy and love. (and stories)
