Mitzie Snyder Obituary

Mitzie Powell Snyder, 94, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Baker Powell, passed away January 8, 2026. Mitzie grew up in Worcester County, MD. A graduate of Buckingham High School, Berlin, MD, and the Delaware Hospital School of Nursing, she was employed by Union Hospital, Elkton, MD, for 22 years as a staff nurse.

Retiring from Union in 1993, she continued her relationship with the hospital as a patient advocate volunteer. She was a member of the founding Board of Directors of the Northern Chesapeake Hospice and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Elkton. Reading and playing golf were her favorite pastimes. Time spent with family was special, and preparing chicken and dumplings for family gatherings was her go-to meal and the family favorite.

Mitzie is survived by her daughter, Beth Snyder Rotenberry (Craig), Newark, DE; son Brad Snyder (Linda), Perryville, MD; grandchildren Craig Rotenberry II (Gabby), Rachel Himmer (Andrew), Sarah Bergen (Nick), Jacqueline Comegys (Jim), Paul Rotenberry (Amanda), and Charles Rotenberry (Liz); 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mitzie was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Bob; son, Bobby; sisters, Helen Snow and Bernice Talley; and brothers Lewis Powell and Mitchell Powell.
