Scott Burres Obituary

Scott Burres of Stockton, Missouri, died on November 18, 2024 after a battle with cancer. Scott was born on June 2, 1959, in Independence, Missouri to Lester and Shirley Burres. He and his family moved to a farm outside of Roscoe, Missouri, where his father had built a basement home in 1969. Scott attended Roscoe Middle and spent his freshman and sophomore years at Osceola High School. The family moved to a farm west of Cedar Springs where Scott attended his junior and senior years at El Dorado Springs High School.
At age sixteen, Scott began working at Woods Supermarket until age 22. He later became the store manager at the Stockton location. Scott later worked for Walmart Stores as an Assistant Manager and Store Manager for ten years. He finished his career in banking for 17 years working for US Bank and Regions Bank. He retired in 2021 as a Loan Processor at Bank of Grandin in Harviell, Missouri.
Scott accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of seven and attended Assembly of God churches in Independence, El Dorado Springs, and Stockton. He served on the board and as worship leader at Stockton Assembly for years.
Scott is survived by son, Matthew and wife Ashley and three grandchildren, HayLeigh, Abbi, and Laneigh Burres all of Stockton; daughter, Vanielle and husband Ben Davis of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brother, Randy and wife Trish Burres of Noblesville, Indiana; sister-in-law Kathy Burres Young of LOCATION; aunt Pam and husband John Homan of Smithville, Missouri; uncle Don Dolan of Smithville, Missouri; aunt Janet Hunt of Blue Springs, Missouri; and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Shirley Burres; stepmother Wilma Bland Burres; brother Mark Burres; and sister Sherri Burres,
Services will be held Thursday, November 21st, at Stockton Assembly of God officiated by son-in-law Ben Davis
