Robert Berardis Obituary

Robert Ottavio "Bob" Berardis

November 12, 1952 - February 4, 2024

Spring Mills, Pennsylvania - Robert Ottavio "Bob" Berardis, of Spring Mills, died at his home on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the age of 71. He was born November 12, 1952 in Bellefonte, PA to the late Robert and Mary Lou (Albano) Berardis of State College. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Nye) and sisters, Sandy Berardis and Nancy Torsell and his many nieces and nephews who will greatly miss "Uncle Bob". His devoted and longtime friends, Thomas S. Archer, Gary Ulinski and Joe Miko, with whom he shared many wonderful days as avid hunters and fishermen, also mourn his loss.

Bob was a graduate of State College High School, the Pennsylvania State University and Rider University with his MBA. He worked for the former SeaLand company before beginning his own company and was well known in Central PA for his contributions to worthy causes and his generosity. He will be remembered as a remarkable, loving, honorable man who left us all too soon.

A public celebration of Bob's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Bob's honor to Pets Come First. An online guestbook may be signed and condolences left for the family at www.hakygeorgianafh.com

I remember Bob from the "old neighborhood". He and his buddies lived on Garner Street, while I lived on south Pugh Street. Bobs neighborhood football team, the Garner Street Rams, would play my neighborhood football team on the old Easterly Parkway Elementary School playground. Guys like Chance Connor, Gary Ulinsky, and others all went to Easterly Parkway Elementary together. Bobs dad ran Berardis Shoe Repair which was located in the basement under the Corner Room, where Zenos is now located. You could not only get your shoes repaired at his dads place, you could even get your shoes shined. I'm told that shoe shine stand is located the display window that shoe repair place up the hill on Allen Street in the same block of what used to be Kayes Corner. The last time I saw Bob was when he was working in his dads place. That was, maybe, 50 years ago. His sister, Sandy, was, probably, the prettiest girl in her class and, maybe, all of State College High School. As I recall, Sandy was married to Harry Holsinger, who is long since deceased.
