Robert Shawver Obituary

Robert E. Shawver
January 26, 1941 - December 21, 2020
Centre Hall, Pennsylvania - Robert E. "Bob" Shawver, of Centre Hall, went home to be with his Lord on December 21, 2020. He was 79. Born January 26, 1941 in Bellefonte, Bob was a son of the late Eugene C. and Bessie L. "Witherite" Shawver. On April 22, 1962, at the Emmanuel Union Church in Tusseyville, Bob married the love of his life, Joan V. Tate, who survives at their home.
He was a 1959 graduate of Penns Valley High School. Upon graduation from high school Bob went on to attend Williamsport Technical Institute where he earned two degrees, one as a Machinist and one as a Tool and Die Maker. He began his career at the former HRB Singer in State College and remained there until 1971 before going to the former Corning Asahi where he retired from in 2003 with 30 years of service. Bob served in the U. S. Army Reserves for six years and was discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant in 1971.
Bob attended Family Life Fellowship in Spring Mills. He enjoyed traveling, loved bowling and was an avid golfer. Bob once bowled a 300 game during league play at the Millheim Lanes in 1996. In 2015 he scored a hole-in-one at the golf course of the Clinton County Country Club. Most of all, Bob loved spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by one son, Kevin R. Shawver (Tammy) of Centre Hall; one granddaughter, Maura Eminhizer of Centre Hall; one grandson, Justin Shawver of Boalsburg and two great grandchildren, Carter and Parker Eminhizer. Also surviving are two brothers, M. Donald Shawver (Ruth) and Gaylord D. Shawver (Sandy) both of Spring Mills.
In accordance with family wishes, all services are private. Bob will be laid to rest in the Emmanuel Union Cemetery at Tusseyville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be given to American Heart Association.

Bob was one of my very best friends. He was a fatherly figure, mentor, and one of the best friends anyone could ever ask for. My thoughts and prayers are with Joan, Kevin, and the rest of Bob's family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
