Sylvia R. King

State College, Pennsylvania - Sylvia R. King, 84, of State College, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Mount Nittany Medical Center. Born on June 28, 1940, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Alfred M. and Helen (Herman) Frye. She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, James Beckett, Sr. and Thomas King, respectively.
Sylvia worked periodically as a waitress and for a cleaning service. However, she dedicated most of her life to taking care of her home and raising her children.
She is survived by her seven children: Nina King (Kevin), Veronica Beckett, James Beckett, Jr. (Mary), Karl Beckett (Linda), Martin Beckett (Laura), Scott Beckett (Fran), and Nicci Weaver, 12 grandchildren: Bruce Richwine, Jr., David J. Prout, Kara Prout, Devon Beckett, Josiah Beckett (Jen), Cait Beckett, Jeffery Parmer, Ryan Parmer, Lydia O'Donnell (Timothy), Jamie Beckett, Danica Risbon (Ivan), and Griffin Weaver, and 12 great grandchildren: Katie Shutt, Alexia Prout, Max Beckett, Francis O'Donnell, Caydance Parmer, Jeffery Parmer, Jr., Weston Parmer, Chase Rupport, Aaron Brubaker, Jr., Peter Brubaker, Hannah Beckett, and Jayce Risbon who is on the way. Also surviving is a sister, Marie Eysenbach (Kurt), and a special niece and nephew, Eryn Richard and Mike Persia.
In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Annabelle Persia.
Sylvia was a member of the American Legion Post. She loved going out to camp and looked forward to going out to eat with friends and family, especially where she could get a good steak! She also enjoyed crafts, specifically knitting and crocheting. More than anything else, she loved spending time with her family. She leaves her loved ones with countless memories to cherish. And in her own words, "She is mean and hateful as ever, thanks for asking!"
Funeral and burial services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc. in Bellefonte.
