Aaron Thomas Sain
BETHLEHEM -- Aaron, 18, died August 28, 2004 at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, after a 7-year struggle with a brain tumor. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Viewmont Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Layne Smith and Rev. Edward Bolen officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church.
Born February 6, 1986 in Catawba County, he was the son of Gary and Karen Smith Sain. He was a 2004 Honor Graduate of Alexander Central High School, where he was a member of the Beta Club, Student Council, Varsity Tennis Team and a Morehead Scholarship Nominee. Aaron was also one of the 2003 YMCA Teen Character Award recipients.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, are his brother, Brian Sain of the home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Boyd J. Smith of Lenoir, NC; and paternal grandmother, Louise Sain of Hickory. His grandfather, Harold Sain, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Hall, Andrew Bolick, Steve Bumgarner, Ron Turner, Andy Hass, and Jason Sain.
Memorials are requested to the Brain Tumor Fund for the Carolinas, c/o Carolinas Neurosurgery & Spine Associates, 1010 Edgehill Road North, Charlotte, NC 28207, ATT: Mary Cloninger.
Bass-Smith Funeral Home is serving the family of Aaron Thomas Sain.
