Donald Arthur Bartlett
LAKE WYLIE -- Mr. Bartlett, of River Hills, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on July 31, 2006 surrounded by his family. He was born July 27, 1933 to the late Arthur and Ruby Bartlett in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. He will be forever remembered by his wife of 49 years Ann; his daughter, Heather of Atlanta GA; son, Richard and wife, Alina, of Charlotte NC; son, Stephen and wife, Christine, of Fort Mill, SC; the pride and joy of his life grandchildren, Sarah, Jennifer, and Adam of Fort Mill, David, and Allison of Charlotte NC; sister, Shirley 'Tooty' and husband, Ron Dickey, of Perth Road, Ontario; brother, Ken and wife, Brenda, of Elginburg, Ontario; brother, Art and wife, Kay, of Kingston, Ontario; sister-in-law, Jean and husband, Charlie Garrah, of Kingston Ontario; and ten nieces and nephews.
Don graduated from Queens University in Kingston, Ontario in 1958 with a degree in chemical engineering. He was employed at Millhaven Fibers Canada until 1976 when he was transferred to Celanese in Charlotte NC. In 1983 he formed Bartex Corporation representing and installing fiber equipment and then co-founded Bartex Recycling with son Stephen in 1990.
He was a very active and faithful member of Bethel Church in Kingston Ontario, Calvary Church in Charlotte NC, and most recently Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte NC where he was involved in Cranford/McGinn's Bible Study class. Don dearly loved Saddle Ridge Campground in the Blue Ridge Mountains where he served on the board of directors for several years and had many friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Karner, Tammy, and Kelly, as well as the Hospice staff. Memorial gifts in honor of Don may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Charlotte Region at 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte NC 28204 or Hope Cancer Ministries at 4824 Sharon View Rd. Charlotte NC 28226.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday August 4th at McEwen Funeral Service Pineville. The family welcomes friends at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 PM.

So sorry to hear of Don's passing. Know that you will always treasure you fun vacations in the mountains(decorating golf carts and celebrating the Fourth).
