Edgar Norfleet Poston

1955 - 2016

Edgar Norfleet Poston, age 61, had a tragic fall and passed away peacefully on July 20, 2016 at the Carolinas Medical Center of Charlotte.

A native Charlottean, Mr. Poston, was born on February 20, 1955 at Presbyterian Hospital. He was the youngest of five children to Margaret Andrews Norfleet Poston and the late Frank Huling Poston, Jr. Edgar was named after the well-known Dr. Edgar Norfleet from Bertie County, NC.

Edgar's early years were complicated with the discovery of a heart valve defect. At 5 years old, he required open heart surgery and was one of the youngest patients of cardiac surgeon Dr. Francis Robicsek of the Sanger Clinic at Charlotte Memorial Hospital now Carloinas Medical Center.

Edgar spent his childhood summers at Nags Head, NC at the family cottage and on the family farm in Roxobel, NC. Another one of his childhood summer highlights was going to camp at Camp Sea Gull in Arapahoe, NC with friends. Edgar had loyal friends through his school years from Myers Park Elementary School to Myers Park High School. Following graduation, he attended Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC.

Edgar was devoted to his mother and enjoyed spending fall and spring days on the family farm in Bertie County. He was very compassionate and loved animals, especially his dog, Bull.

A private family graveside celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2016, at 1:00 pm at the Norfleet Family Cemetery in Roxobel, NC with the Reverend Doug Spivey officiating.
