Edna Mullis

Edna Marie Wright Mullis CHARLOTTE - Edna Marie Wright Mullis passed away at her home in Charlotte on August 27, 2015. She was 90 years old. Edna was born in Charlotte, NC on May 4, 1925. Edna attended Villa Heights School and graduated from Old Charlotte Technical High School, Class of 1943. She was an Alumni of the Women's College, Greensboro, NC (now UNC-Greensboro). She worked in accounting for many years, retiring from NC State Motor Club, Travel/Unlimited Division. She was the fifth child of eight born to the late Ira Monroe Wright and Carrie Elizabeth Parrish Wright. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Onis Mullis, and their son, Jeffrey Monroe Mullis; her brothers, James Everette Wright and Ira Monroe Wright, Jr.; and her sisters, Ruth Elizabeth Wright and Mary Catherine Wright Query. She is survived by her daughters, Myra Jim and husband, Stephen James Edens of Barrington, RI, and Marie Jane and husband, Keith Michael Savoy of Rougemont, NC; her son, James Onis Mullis, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Smyly Mullis of Mt. Horeb, WI.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Martha Helms and Carolyn Parker; and her brother, Leonard M. Wright. To quote a dear friend of Edna's, "She was truly one of God's most special creations." Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
