Fern Crowder Obituary


Fern Hall Crowder
Mrs. Crowder, 84, of Charlotte, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 13, 2004. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was dedicated to caring for her family. She was a compassionate Christian friend and often times a silent benefactor to those who needed a helping hand.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church following a committal service at Sharon Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. Dr. Charles D. Page will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 until 5:30 at Hankins and Whittington Dilworth Chapel and in the church parlor following the service on Monday. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Crowder was born May 3, 1919 in Coalfax, Illinois, a daughter of the late Walter Hall and Minnie Webb Hall. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, David E. Crowder and her son, David E. Crowder Jr. Mrs. Crowder was a member of First Baptist Church and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Crowder is survived by a daughter, Margie Crowder Crosby and her husband, Donald of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Linda David Crowder of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Michele Crosby Davies and her husband, Jeffrey, David Edward Crosby, Jason David Crowder, Whitney Claire Crowder and Ryan Edward Crowder; two sisters, Helen Stanley of Meadows of Dan, Virginia and Mae Mack of Rockville, Maryland; a brother, Ivan N. Hall and his wife, Hazel of Sperryville, Virginia; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, 301 South Davidson Street, Charlotte, NC 28231.

Dear Margie, having lost both our mothers several years ago, we know what you are going thru. Take comfort in knowing she is with our Lord and no longer in sickness and pain. You are in our thoughts and prayers. We love you.
