Florence Foster Obituary

Florence Ann Foster PHOENIX, AZ - Florence Ann Foster passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, in Phoenix, Arizona. Ann was born in Durham, North Carolina on April 28, 1948. She was a brilliant woman having graduated from Queens College with a Bachelor of Science in 1970 then went on to earn her Master of Science from North Carolina State University in 1972. From there Ann earned her PhD in Botany from the University of Georgia in 1978. Ann was a true scientist at heart and was a great researcher. She loved quilting, designing jewelry and was an avid reader. Ann is predeceased by her father, James Worth Foster, her mother, Florence Lockhart Foster and her sister Ellen Louise Foster. She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Paul Jeffrey Sutton, her sister Susan Foster Battle, her nephew, James Harrison Battle (and wife Sonya Russell Battle) and niece Ellen Kate Foster Battle. There was a private family service on February 12, 2017, in Phoenix. Charitable donations in memory of Ann Foster can be made to one of the following organizations: The Desert Botanical Garden, 1201 N. Galvin Parkway, Phoenix, Arizona 85008, The U.S. National Arboretum, 3501 New York Ave., NE, Washington, DC 20002 or to Queens University, 1900 Selwyn Ave., Charlotte, NC 28207.
