Howard Mims Obituary
Howard grew up in the Derita area of Charlotte. He is survived by three wonderful children, Teresa Mims, Johnny Mims (Beth), and Becky Sutton (Gregg), 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Howard loved his family and friends and was well known for fixing things and helping others before he helped himself.
Throughout his life he loved singing Gospel music. In fact, many people affectionately referred to him as the Gospel Man. Everywhere he went he spread the Gospel through song.
Howard served in the Navy for 10 years. He drove a tractor trailer for Moss Trucking hauling heavy equipment; eventually retiring from Harkey & Associates. He spent his retirement years as a permanent fixture at Johnny K's in Indian Trail.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 10am-11am at Heritage Funeral Home - Indian Trail Chapel, with funeral service to follow at 11am, burial to follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery. Online guestbook is available at www.heritagecares.com.

I have seen Mr Mims at Johnny K for years and my in laws loved talking with him as well as my father who eats there once a week. I never knew he grew up in Derita as my Uncle Walter Savage was also from there and this would have given us more to talk about. Our thoughts are with you all.

So sorry to hear about Howard. I met him about 40 years ago when he sang with The Gospel Four. We used to play their albums on WHVN.

Becky and johnny I am so sorry this makes me so sad I have always loved my uncle Howard there are a lot of fun memories we all had growing up together he will always be in my heart he is now in heaven singing and once again holding your mom close I sure him and daddy are talking away love you all
