In the short time that I knew him, Mr. Magarahan (Poppy Jim)was a sweet, kind man that, along with Mary, graciously opened his home to a group of his daughter-in-law's (Melinda) Mary Kay unit girls to stay while attending Charlotte conferences. We always laughed and made some great memories. My prayers and love to all of the Magarahans.

Godspeed Cuz! James taught me how to spell Magarahan ("it's easy to remember Yankee, every other letter is an "a"), and I taught him how to spell Yastrzemski. Both are Hall of Famers!!

Dodie, Jimmy, Charlie, Mike, Tim, and Peggy,

I am sorry to hear about your father's death. Our family lived on the same street as yours in Taylors. When you moved to NJ, we moved into your house. When I learned that your father was living at Tega Cay, I reconnected with him about ten years ago. I was working for my company's Rock Hill station. The last time I spoke to him was in August. I regret that I never had the opportunity to visit him before he died. He was kind to the other children in our neighborhood and I admired him for that. My coworker Bob Wood was his neighbor at Tega Cay.

Thank you Charlie for being a big brother to me. Thank you Mike for helping me pick some good books to read from the bookmobile. Tim, thank you for being a good friend to my brother Paul. To all of you I thank you for being good friends and good neighbors.

Poppy Jim is my grandfather... one of the most wonderful, respected, and loving men I have ever known. I will always remember long weekends at the lake, National Family Week at Fripp Island and Garden City, Magarahan family Christmas, and all the occasions/milestones of each of his 9 grandchildren he made sure never to miss. I've been singing "Going on a boatride" and "Eastertime is the time for eggs" and "Butterbeans" in tribute for the last few days. Poppy Jim, I'll love you always and I'll squeeze every memory I have of you into conversation with my children so that they, too, will know your value. -Patty
