Janet Lundberg Obituary

Janet Kurtz Lundberg

August 30, 1943 - February 14, 2026

Charlotte, North Carolina - Janet Kurtz Lundberg went to heaven to spend eternity with her Lord Jesus Christ on Feb 14th, 2026. Janet was born in New Paltz, New York on August 30th, 1943. She graduated from New Paltz Central High School and attended Bethany College in Bethany West Virginia, where she met the love of her life Stephen F Lundberg and they began a wonderful and joyous 63-year marriage. During Steve's career with Exxon, the family lived in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas, and Virginia before moving to Charlotte in 1974, where they would happily reside for the next 52 years.

Janet and Steve are survived by two sons; Steve (Leanne) of Scottsdale AZ with their son Stephen and daughter Sydney, and David (Jennifer) of Belmont NC, with his daughter Daryn Mosack (Connor) and Jennifer's sons Nicolas Chance and Cole Chance. Janet was preceded in death by her father Paul Kurtz, mother Mary Kurtz, and sister Susan Kurtz.

While Janet enjoyed gardening, tennis, and art in her spare time, by far the most important things in her life were faith, family, and friends. As the family moved frequently in the early years as Steve worked with Exxon, she made every transition easy for her family, helping them feel at home instantly. Upon arriving in Charlotte, Janet and Steve found our place of worship at Calvary Church and the family developed friendships that would last a lifetime. When Steve left the corporate world to start a business, she was the bedrock by his side through all of the challenges that they faced. Her care for her two sons was unmatched, as she made sure that all their needs were met, as well as someone they could always rely on and confide in. When blessed with grandchildren, 'Grammy' embraced the opportunity with great joy, doting over Daryn, Stephen, and Sydney and playing an integral part of their lives.

Janet had friends she actively kept in touch with dating back from her kindergarten years to everywhere she spent her life. Being a great wife, mother, grammy, daughter, sister, and friend came naturally to her. Through the many roles that Janet played in her life, she always walked with kindness in her Spirit, the kind that can only come from the Holy Spirit, truly touching every person she came into contact with. Her family and friends will miss her tremendously, but we are comforted knowing that she is with her Savior and we all look forward to when we see her again.

The family will have a private ceremony in her memory. In lieu of flowers, we request donations to me made to the Calvary Church Children's Ministry, 5801 Pineville–Matthews Road, Charlotte, North Carolina 28226.
