I must say “it is hard for me to accept the passing of Jerry (Hobo).”” The feeling of loosing Jerry is analogous to the feeling of loosing a true blood brother. After all, we grew up together from the beginning of elementary and through the present. While Jerry will always be remembered for his performance in reference to golfing, I will always remember Hobo’s performance of the “Billy Tow Rivers” war dance. So I am saying to Darryl(BB), Karen(M), Brendella, Raymond(J) and Keith, we the Coopers will truly miss Jerry.

My sincere condolences to your family. It saddens my heart. As a little girl, he was my favorite Osborne!
In Clanton Park, in Louise living room she had that table w/lots of pictures and HoBo big framed uniform picture sat on the bottom. I remember sitting on the bottom of that table looking at his picture.
For some reason, I equated that picture of him w/ the song “sitting on the dock of the bay”.
Back in those days, I was the only little girl around and I looked forward to receiving treats from Hobo. And to me and
“ Mooda” riding the city bus downtown to Woolworth. She would always buy me a treat! Usually a big balloon punching ball.
Hobo his mother, father, brothers and sisters were a inspiration to my life.
Thank you Osborne family.
I Love You

My sincerest condolences. He sounds like a wonderful gentleman. Although I never met him, because we share the same last name I wondered if somehow in this vast world God created if we might be distantly related. Nevertheless as a golfer and Christian brother I offer prayers of comfort to you and your family.

I am very sorry to hear about Jerry’s passing. He was a good friend. We have known each other for 50 years or so and played a lot of golf together when we were young men. Jerry was a good golfer and very knowledgeable about the game. Jerry always had a smile on his face and was enjoyable to be around. My most sincere condolences to his family and friends. David Strawn

Wow! Charlotte has lost a bit of history and a great treasure. I met Hobo in high school and we all caddied together. He was one of the most gifted golfers to grow up in Charlotte. He was on the level of Tiger Woods at his age. We were not as lucky to pursue our dreams at early ages but God blessed us all to succeed. Hobo was a trailblazer on the Professional Golf Tour and was the best at his craft. He helped so many people in the Golf business including people like me and Harold Varner. He cared about life, family and people. I called him a few days before he passed and my heart is at pace that I don’t put off calling to check on him. Love you my brother and Thanks for the memories. Rest in Heaven My Friend.

I would like to express my condolences to the Osborne family on the passing of my friend Hobo. I will certainly miss that smile and his warm personality as I know there are a lot of others that will also. I met Hobo at the Senior/Champions Tour event at Rock Barn several years ago. I have no idea why we became fast friends quickly but I believe we did. He called me fairly regularly from our first meeting up until just recently. I can honestly say I enjoyed our conversations and doubt there was ever a call when I did not learn something from this wise man. He even invited me to play in a few of the golf events he helped run in Charlotte. The hospitality I received was always top notch. The Charlotte area and golf specifically will miss this good man for a long time. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and all of Hobo's many friends. May he RIP

I extend my condolences to the Osborne Family. Jerry, affectionately known to us as "Hobo", was the first golfer from Charlotte to attend South Carolina State College on golf scholarship. He was a real trailblazer who opened this pathway to higher education and athletics for other Charlotte golfers to follow. I along with Douglas Grier, Bobby Ellis, Sergeant Robert Parker, Stanley Tribune, John Hearn and Gene Lawrence followed the path that he blazed. Although many of the good years that we shared I've forgotten, but the teachable moments and good memories that we shared, I shall never forget.

IN MEMORY OF MY BROTHER AND DEAR FRIEND. Rest In Peace my friend. I love you and will always remember our days in high school. You were such a positive force in our class and a joy to be around. The Lord really blessed your life and allowed you to soar. I felt that you were a “golf great” and THE LATE GREAT CHARLIE SIFFORD thought so as well. Our family, my Dad MR. George Howard and my late husband REV LUCIUS HARRIS adored you. We will always be grateful for the time that was given to us to share your life here on earth. Praying for your beautiful Cynthia and brother Darrell to find strength in knowing that JERRY YOUR LIFE WAS WELL LIVED AND YOU WILL REMEMBERED AND YOUR MEMORY CHERISHED THROUGHOUT THE AGES. So rest my friend.
YOUR SISTER AND FRIEND.
