Memphis, Tennessee - John Patrick Gamble, 52, died unexpectedly after a short illness, in Memphis, Tennessee on April 22, 2022.
Patrick was born November 24, 1969, in Charlotte, NC, the youngest of three sons born to Charles Phillip Gamble and Sally Holbrook Gamble. Pat attended Selwyn Elementary and Alexander Graham Junior High before spending two years at Virginia Episcopal School in Lynchburg, VA. He returned home for his senior year at West Charlotte High School, with the "storied" class of 1988. Pat graduated Rhodes College, Memphis, TN, where he had lived since 1994.
Pat worked as a food broker for several years before embarking on a stellar, 26-year career in commercial real estate, nearly all of which was spent at CBRE representing tenants/buyers in Office sales/leasing. Pat was a multi-year winner of the MAAR Pinnacle Award and the Broker of the Year for Office Leasing in 2005 and from 2011-2013. Pat was also a member of the 2008 Memphis Business Journal's Top 40 Under 40. Pat was well-respected by his peers and his involvement throughout the Memphis community was valued and expansive.
Pat's mind was keen and quick, his interests varied and sincere. He enjoyed learning and reading and listening to music of all genres. His smile and laughter were infectious, radiating the empathy, pride, and love he felt for his family and friends. As a child, Pat was a boy scout at Myers Park Baptist, and his passion for hunting and fishing – usually across the Mississippi in the Ozarks – only increased as he matured. He loved food and cooking, especially grilling and smoking on his outdoor kitchen, which he designed himself.
Patrick is survived by his wife, Anne Lewis Gamble, and his children Charlie and Caroline. He is also survived by his mother, Sally, brothers Keith and Eric, nephews Reese, Oliver and Michael, and nieces Claudia and Elizabeth.
A visitation is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Memphis, with the service following at 2:00 pm. A graveside gathering for all friends and family will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 11:00 am at Forest Lawn Cemetery West, in Charlotte, NC. Memorials may be sent to the charity of one's choice, on behalf of John Patrick Gamble.
