Joseph Moody Obituary
J.C. Moody, 75, of Rock Hill, SC formerly of Charlotte, NC passed away July 7, 2007 at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. J.C. was born September 29, 1931 in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Lola Boyles and Robert Reece Moody.
He graduated from Berryhill High School, Class of 1949. He was employed by Allison Erwin Co. for 22 years, Byrum Seed Co. and retired from Consolidated Freight in 1997. J.C. loved gardening, making homemade ice cream, wonderful pound cakes and peanut brittle to share with friends and family. J.C. was a life member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and elder, taught Sunday School and especially loved the building and grounds and served on that committee for 40 years.
J.C. is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Alexander Moody; one daughter, Marian A. Hines of Rock Hill; one son, David F. Moody and wife, Donna; and two granddaughters, Karsen and Allison Moody of Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Joseph Carson Moody, Jr. in 1990. He is also survived by one brother, R.R. Moody, Jr. and wife, 'Sis' of Beulah, ND; one sister, Ruth M. Griffith and husband, Pete of Charlotte; and daughter-in-law, Kristin Marada and husband, Steve of Paradise, CA.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, 7407 Steele Creek Rd in Charlotte with Dr. Jeff Pinkston officiating. Internment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Monday, July 9, 2007 in the sanctuary of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers for the service will be Larry Briggs, Bill Griffith, Jim Knox, John McDowell, Robby McDowell and Ralph Neely. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Faulkner, John Freeman and Pete Griffith. McEwen Funeral Service in Pineville is handling all of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Steele Creek Presbyterian Church, Capital Fund, 7407 Steele Creek Rd., Charlotte, NC 28217. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Limentani, Dr. Daniel Sappenfield, Dr. Nancy Clavio and Dr. Joseph Newell and to his Hospice nurse, Dollie Perry.

Mrs. Moody,I just found out today of JC's passing.{July23}JC and my husband Jack worked together at CF..Jack passed away in March and not to long before he died ,JC called and they talked for a short time..That was like medicine for Jack because he always thought so much of JC..It's hard loosing a loved one..My thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family in the days ahead..Margaret Gardner

What an awesome man Mr. JC was. Apparently his spiritual gift was mercy...he gave over and beyond himself. I remember one time I helped out in the nursery with Ms. Ann one Sunday. My payment was 4 butter dishes of his famous Oreo ice Cream!!!! I remember eating all 4 bowls in 4 days. He was a loving man. We all were blessed to have him in our lives. He has touched us all. Family, know that you all can call on us for anything. We are here for you. The Freeman/Johnson clan.

Moody Family, I wanted to extend my sympathy out to the family. I am going to miss JC. No mints to eat during the sermon on sunday's and the egg's wont be made the same at Thanksgiving breakfast. He was a great man and im sorry for the loss. He is in a better place with GOD now.

Miss Ann, David, Marian, Donna and girls, there are not enough words to express the loss we feel after losing Mr. JC. But how rich our lives are for knowing him. I can still see us in your backyard running around waiting on the ice cream to get ready!! He has a lot of catching up to do in heaven with friends! I hope he has LOTS of candy! I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Moody's passing. Many years ago, my Daddy, Alton Crowell, owned a hardware store in Richfield. My sisters and I (I'm the second daughter) used to go with him to pick up items in Charlotte which is where we first met Mr. Moody. He would give my family peas from his garden which were absolutely delicious. We always referred to them as 'Moody peas'. I'm sure he will be missed by all who knew him.
