Obituary for Karen Johnson Johnston

August 20, 1943 – October 2, 2025

Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Karen Johnson Johnston entered into

the presence of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 4:33 a.m., passing

peacefully in her sleep at 82 years of age.

Born on August 20, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, Karen was the daughter of the late John Hilbert

(“Hib”) Johnson and Marion Miles Johnson of Hickory, North Carolina. She was also preceded

in death by her brother, Charles Miles Johnson of Woodstock, Georgia.

Karen’s life was marked by a deep and abiding love for the Lord, her family, and the many

animals she cherished—especially her Maltese dogs, Siamese cats, and parakeets.

She was devoted to ministry and service, faithfully working as the church secretary at Rockford

First Assembly in Rockford, Illinois, throughout the 1980s and 1990s. After moving to Charlotte,

North Carolina, she became a member of All Nations Church, where she served as executive

assistant to Pastor Mahesh Chavda. Karen poured her heart into ministry for the remainder of her

working years, leaving behind a legacy of faithfulness, excellence, and grace.

Karen’s love for God was matched only by her love for family. Her children were her joy and

purpose. She gave generously, served faithfully, and carried herself with grace, elegance, and

quiet strength. She loved her sparkling jewelry, had a keen sense of style, and delighted in

gathering her family each summer for beach vacations at Hilton Head or Myrtle Beach—creating

memories that will be cherished for generations.

A woman of remarkable discipline and strength, Karen walked five miles a day and maintained a

healthy lifestyle, yet she was a gracious hostess who loved preparing hearty, comforting meals

for her family. She was an exceptional cook whose dishes carried her love in every bite and will

be remembered fondly around many family tables.

Karen is survived by her husband, Brian Johnson of Charlotte, NC; her loving children, Lauren

Foxworth of Charlotte, NC; Bill McIntosh (Jenny) of Farmville, VA; and Chuck McIntosh of

Monroe, NC; her grandchildren, Hailey Foxworth (23), Savannah Huddleston (30) and husband

Cody, Harvest McIntosh (26), Livi Williams (23) and husband Logan, and Lexi McIntosh (21);

and her great-grandson, Lawson Huddleston (4).

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 13, at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Life

Church, 705 Lakeview Drive, Pineville, NC 28134.

Karen will be remembered for her unwavering love for God and family, her lifelong commitment

to ministry, and her generous, sacrificial spirit. Though she has departed this earthly home, her

legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to shine through all who knew and loved her.
