Matthew Berlin Obituary

Matthew Sean Berlin, 33, formerly of Jamestown, NY died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his home in Charlotte.

He was born March 5, 1984 in Far Rockaway, NY, a twin son of Douglas and Maureen Phelan Berlin, was a graduate of Jamestown High School and received his B.S. degree from the State University of New York at Cortland.

Matt was a physical education teacher at the Charlotte Mecklenburg Metro School working with special needs children. He also enjoyed coaching middle school soccer.

In addition to his parents of Jamestown, Matt is survived by his twin brother, Mickey (Nicole) Berlin and their son, Bryson Parenti of Lakewood, NY; and a sister, Erin (Andy) Berlin and their son, Jacob Berlin of Girard, Pa.

Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William and Rose Phelan; paternal grandparents, Albert and Mae Berlin; and his aunt, Linda Berlin.

A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Metro School, 405 South Davidson St., Charlotte, NC 28202 (please write Matt's name in the memo).
