Sue Cook ROCK HILL - Ms. Nancy Ballard Cook, 86, of 4504 Chestwood Court, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Reverend Ben Herlong officiating. Burial will be private. Born in Mount Holly, NC, Nancy was the daughter of the late Tull and Callie Smith Ballard and the widow of Marvin T. Cook. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she was treasure of the Friendship Bible Sunday School Class and a member of the Morning Circle. She retired from J. P. Stevens where she worked in the accounting office for over 30 years. Surviving are two daughters, Sharon C. Myers, of the home and Toni C. Moss and husband, Roy, of Sharon, SC; four grandchildren, Susan M. Nelson and husband, Michael, Thomas W. Abernathy and wife, Debbie, Steven D. Abernathy and wife, Jenny, of York, SC and Shana Myers and husband, Jude, of Arlington, VA; and six great-grandchildren, Miss Madison Nelson, Master Jaiden Nelson, Miss Tiffany "TC" Abernathy, Austin Abernathy, Matthew Hayner and Robby Hayner. In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Luke Ballard and three sisters, Jeanie Boyd, Aileen Phillips and Lucille Mack. The family will receive friends immediately following the memorial service and other times at the home.
