Quay Hunter

LANCASTER -- Mr. Quay Hunter, of 912 Crescent Drive, died June 24, 2002 in White Oak Manor, Rock Hill. Born February 17, 1908 in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Charlie and Ella Stogner Hunter and was the widower of Sara Murphy Hunter, Lucielle Starnes Hunter and Jane Caston Hunter. He was a retired weave room supervisor with Springs Industries and a member of First United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class. He was also a member of the Hart Masonic Lodge and the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Mr. Hunter is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Nancy Kay Porter and husband, Bob of Aiken, SC; a son, Mr. Quay Charles Hunter, Jr. and wife, Lauren of Kannapolis, NC; a sister, Mrs. Polly Robinson of Florence; four step children, Ms. Betsy Hinson of Monroe, NC, Mrs. Charles Hinson and wife, Brenda of Lancaster, Mrs. Beverly Duncan and husband, Sam of Lancaster, and Mr. Andy Anderson and wife, Carol of Pageland; 16 grandchildren, Bobby, Porter, Sally Porter, David Scott, Lindsay Scott, Jeffrey Hinson, Darryl Hinson, Betsy Vick, Kim Self, Charlene Blackmon, Joe Duncan, Al Wrobel, Curtis Wrobel, Carol Jean Wrobel Kirvons, Anne DiMura, Dennis Anderson, Andrea Willard; and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday, from First United Methodist Church by Rev. Don Brown. Interment will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park, Lancaster, SC, with Masonic Rites by the Hart Masonic Lodge.
The family will receive friends at Mahaffey Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday evening.
