Ray Turner Obituary

Ray Pervis Turner
Ray Pervis Turner was born on January 11, 1922 in Grover, NC, he was born to the late Mont D. and Georgia McGinnis Turner. He met Pauline in Lincolnton, NC in 1941 and married her on June 20, 1942. They were married in York, SC by E. Gennis, Justice of the Peace and remained married for 56 years until his wife Pauline passed away and went home on September 27, 1997. They had 4 living sons Charles, William, Donald and Clinton. Ray worked at Davidson College for 17 years as equipment manager and 17 more years for Reeves Brothers Curion and retired at the age of 65. Ray was a Lay Preacher at Eastside Baptist Church in Mooresville, NC, Chairman of Deacons, Adult Sunday School Teacher, member of Cornelius First Baptist Church and also a volunteer fireman in Davidson, NC. After Ray had bypass surgery he decided he needed an electric scooter to get around and visit the community. He and his deceased friend Theodore Gryder even rode their scooters to First Baptist Church in Cornelius where Ray was a member.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by son, Clayton Alton Turner; sister, Ribey Hoke; brother, Deocer L. Turner; and wife, Pauline.
Survivors include his sons Charles Turner of Charlotte, NC, William R. Turner of Hickory, NC, Donald Turner of Kannapolis, NC and Clinton Turner; sister, Virginia T. Alexander of Forest City, NC; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Cornelius First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Huneycutt officiating. Interment will follow in Mimosa Cemetery, Davidson, NC. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 PM Monday, March 12, 2007 at Raymer Funeral Home.
Raymer Funeral Home of Huntersville is serving the family.

Charlie and Family, Even though we may miss our loved one's when they pass, I hope you will take comfort in knowing that your Father has truely gone home,and couldn't be in a better place.We all must grieve in our own way,and in our own time,but it will get easier as time passess.With Great Sympathy for you,and your family at this time .
