Ronald Dellinger Obituary

Ronald Wayne Dellinger CHARLOTTE - Ronald Wayne Dellinger, age 66, of Charlotte went to be with our Lord and Savior on Feb. 9, 2014, at Presbyterian Hospital. A service to celebrate his life will be at 1:00PM Friday, Feb. 14th at Shady Brook Baptist Church, Pastors George Sherman and John Thomas officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00-1:00PM at the church prior to the service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn West Cemetery with military rites. Born on Aug. 9, 1947 in Charlotte he was the son of the late James and Mary Lee Dellinger. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Dellinger, Jr. and a sister, Joyce Dellinger. Mr. Dellinger was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a dedicated employee of the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System Maintenance Department until his retirement. He was a very strong, yet humble Christian, a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, and a faithful member of Shady Brook Baptist Church. He loved all of his church family and served as a deacon, trustee, usher and filled other positions as needed. Surviving is his wife, Vivian Dellinger; daughters, Cheryl Shore and husband, Todd and Laura Dellinger all of Charlotte; brother, Anthony (Tony) Dellinger and wife, Teresa of Winder, Ga.; sister-in-law, Pennie Dellinger of Clayton, three nephews and a niece. He was grandfather "PawPaw" to Haley & T. J. Shore and Carsyn & Camdyn Caldwell. Memorials may be made to Shady Brook Baptist Church, 2940 Belmeade Dr., Charlotte, NC 28214 or Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Avenue, 5th floor, Norwalk, CT 06851. When I first met Mr. Dellinger we had Sunday services in the old church, I knew of his struggles with health, yet every Sunday he was there, living his faith, not his struggle with health. After service one morning, I introduced myself and remember telling him, "Mr. Dellinger I admire you for the example you set with your life". He smiled and simply said, Thank you.
