Stacy Sue Stranick obituary, 1963-2018, Charlotte, NC

Stacy Stranick Obituary

Stacy Sue Stranick, 55, died tragically in a bicycle accident on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Stacy was born on March 24, 1963 in Omaha, Nebraska, daughter of Marcia Wetzler Hinkle and the late, Demerol Andrew. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska and received an MBA degree from Jacksonville University. Stacy operated her own accounting business for over twenty years and owned her own UPS store for over four years.

Stacy had a passion for exercise and was always physically fit. She loved to run, bike and was an avid cyclist. Stacy loved every animal, especially those at risk. She volunteered for the mission of the NC guardian ad litem, which provides advocates to represent the best interest of abused, neglected and dependent children in the state court system and to work expediently toward a plan that ensures these children are in a safe, permanent home. Whether she was baking them brownies or just being there to talk, Stacy showed that she cared for the teens she advocated for. She was also active in St. Gabriel's Church charitable ministries.

But Stacy's most important passion in life was her family. She loved her children, Andrew, Sean, and Sara and fostered a passion of exercise and intellectual curiosity in them. All three of them were collegiate athletes at Boston College, Kenyon College and the University of Virginia, respectively. Her marriage and family were ultimately the things Stacy cared most about in life. She will be greatly missed by too numerous friends to mention.

In addition to her mother, Stacy is survived by her loving husband, Francis J. Stranick, Jr. MD; her children, Andrew Stranick of San Francisco, CA, Sean Stranick of Austin, TX, and Sara Stranick of Charlottesville, VA; sister, Shelly Badge and her husband, Tad of Omaha, NE; brother, Scott Andrew of Yonkers, NY; parents in-law, Francis Joseph Stranick Sr. and Theresa Ann Stranick of Gilbertsville, PA; brothers-in-law, Chris Stranick of Perkasie, PA and his wife, Ruth and Rob Stranick and his wife, Helen of Haverford, PA; and nieces and nephews, Madison, Emerson, and Jamison Badge, Weights, Aden and Esme Andrew, Tess, Jake and Luke Stranick and Lauren, Alison, Helene and Megan Stranick.

A service to celebrate Stacy's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2018 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at a reception on Thursday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Myers Park Country Club, 2415 Roswell Road.

Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Charlotte, 2700 Toomey Av., Charlotte, NC 28203, or to Charlotte Catholic Student Assistance Fund, 7702 Pineville Matthews Road, Charlotte, NC 28226 or the Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at Charlotte Country Day School, 1440 Carmel Road, Charlotte, NC 28226

Arrangements are in the care of Kenneth Poe Funeral & Cremation Service, 1321 Berkeley Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204; (704) 641-7606. Online condolences can be shared at www.kennethpoeservices.com.

Only new Stacy a short while but felt like I had known her for years. She was that kind of person. So open and honest. She was a beautiful women and a exceptional athlete a force to be reckoned with, especially on a bike. So sad that she left us so young.

Frank,

So saddened by the loss of Stacy. I still remember when you all lived in Virginia Beach, back in the days when we you were just getting started in your romance and career. So much has transpired since then...I hope, given time, you'll be able to reflect back and see your life together as a journey that ultimately brought you closer and, while cut short, remains a story of strength and courage. Please know that we are all here for you to provide whatever strength and courage we can to support you in the weeks and months ahead.

Love,
Peyton and Melissa Robertson

Shelly, our hearts broke when we heard the news of your sister. I loved the way you spoke of your sister, and how others spoke of her. What an incredible human being! You were right when you said God got a good one. Good luck to those that aspire to be like her. She set one hell of a bar! God bless you and your entire family.

I am so sorry for the loss of Stacy. She and I worked out together at the Harris Y on the stair master over the years. I will miss her laugh, our talks, and the inspiration she provided to exercise intensely. Prayers for comfort and peace for the family that she loved so dearly!

Sorry to hear about your wife being struck while riding her bike and what happened to her was just so tragic for her, her husband, and her adult sons and daughter. My heart goes out to this family at this time. May God wrap his loving arms around all of you and give you a sense of comfort during this time knowing that Stacy was a Christian and all the things she did for others along the way. May heaven be glad to receive another Angel in Stacy and may she rest in peace knowing she did her mission work her each and every day. God Bless each one of you each and every day. Again I am sorry for this tragic accident and your loss to your loving family also. I actually heard this on the radio and also on the news later that evening.

Words cannot express how much she will be missed. For more than twenty years Stacy has kept our doctor and her finances organized. Her bubbly personality and her ability to talk was always a welcomed distraction from the daily grind of work. Our hearts grieve for her family at this time and we will continue to lift them up in prayers as the days ahead will be difficult. This is a great loss for the Smart O

I was lucky to meet Stacy several years ago on a bike ride.
We kept in touch and she was always nice and encouraging. She was very
focused on her cycling and her riding always proved it. Off the bike
she was very sociable and friendly. I am happy to have known her yet
grieved to know that I won't see her again.
We will do that ride together once again in heaven!

Stacy was such an open and friendly person, a joy to ride with and recover with afterwards. My heart goes out to Frank and the children. She was one of the few people who was so strong she could drop everyone on the ride by accident. She will be dearly missed.

Stacy was an incredible person, all around athlete, and a beast on the bike. She offered friendship and encouragement to everyone. I treasure my memories of riding and hanging out with her, but what stands out to me right now is what she wasnt. She was never a whiner or complainer. No matter how cold or hot or how difficult the ride was, she would comment on how nice it was to just be outside. Create your own sunshine, indeed! Stacy will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to her family.

Stacy rode on a level few women or men achieve. She was always considerate of others, and an encourager. I saw her slow her pace many times to come along side another cyclist to encourage them. Her death is a true loss to our community, cycling and otherwise. Im honored to have known Stacy, and when I could keep up with her, to have ridden with her. Thank you Stacy. Your friend, Scott
