William Estridge Obituary

William Banks Estridge, Jr. CHARLOTTE - William Banks Estridge, Jr. died December 28, 2012, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born November 16, 1932 in Charlotte, NC. He attended North Carolina State University. He met his wife Nancy Hunt Estridge of 55 years in Asheville, NC before getting married in Charlotte. Mr Estridge worked 30+ years and retired from Avery Dennison Labels as a National Sales Manager. Upon his retirement he started his own company, Label Source in Charlotte. He served four years in the United States Air Force during the Cold War in Japan and California as a Ground Control Intercept and was awarded six service medals. Bill is preceded in death by his mother and father, Mr and Mrs William Banks Estridge of Charlotte and his brother Ronald Estridge of Asheville, NC. He is survived by his wife Nancy Estridge and have four children, Pamela Kelly of Charlotte, William B. Estridge III of Mint Hill, Edward H. Estridge of Charlotte and Elizabeth Hardaway of Gibsonville, NC. Also survived are his 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild and his sister Patricia McKee Lee of Asheville. Bill was extremely passionate about golf and was a longtime member of Carmel Country Club. Bill attended Calvary Church in Charlotte. The family would sincerely like to express our appreciation for the staff at Mecklenburg Healthcare in Charlotte for making his last days as comfortable as could be expected. "Thank you Natasha and Sissy for your loving help." A private memorial will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers a charitable donation in Bill's name will be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
