Athens, Tenn.
Betty (Sue) Foxx, of Athens, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at her residence. She was a native of Andrews, N.C., and resident of McMinn County since 1979.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Manuel and Mattie Dailey Painter.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Edward Fox; daughter, Lisa Rena Fox Lyles; grandson, Thomas Wayne Queen; sisters, Grace Whitener, Polly Ann Pack and her husband, Clarence Pack.
She was a wonderful person, hardworking, industrious, hospitable and most of all loving. She always put her family and friends first. She was loved by all, and she truly loved her family and friends.
She was a wonderful and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, J.C. Foxx; and she was the mother of Johnny Queen and wife Susan of Canton, N.C.; also, a son, Scott Fox and wife Sherry of Athens, Tenn.
She is also survived by three brothers, Tom Jr. and wife Louise Painter of Atlanta, Ga., James and wife Sandy Painter of London, Ky., and Tony and wife Diane Painter of Andrews; and several nieces and nephews.
She was affectionately referred to by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Granny Sue.
She had 11 grandchildren: Jennifer Queen, Justina Queen Goodman, and husband J.J. and four children. Kendra Queen, and John Michael Queen and wife Victoria. Brittney and husband Dylan and three children. Ariel and husband A.J. and two children, and Mitchell Fox. Also, Joshua, Emily and husband Walker and two children. Elijah and wife Hannah, Miranda and husband and two children.
She will be greatly missed by all, but especially her family.
