Alexander Robert Pegler, age 24, passed away unexpectedly on October 21, 2018 at his home in Chicago. Alex was born July 15, 1994 in Chicago, attended Francis Xavier Ward and was a graduate of New Trier High School. Alex was one of the captains during the 2013 hockey season that took New Trier to the State Championship. Alex attended University of Arizona and was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity. Over the last few months, Alex was coaching the New Trier hockey team inspiring players and sharing his love of the game. He was a wonderful mentor and motivator for many young hockey players who respected his leadership and team spirit. Alex is survived by his mother, Peggy; father, Westbrook, his older brother Jack, and his older sister Tabby. A member of an extended and loving family, Alex is also survived by 13 aunts and uncles, 31 first cousins, and his nephew Dylan and niece Mia. Alex will be remembered for the twinkle in his eye, his charisma, his kindness and his love of his family and friends. Alexs family:

Your son touched the lives of my two sons. Jeff and Sam Katter, like few people have in their short lives. Alex was not afraid to give smiles, hugs and even wet sloppy kisses. His love was huge. I didnt know him but have heard so many stories about him for the last 5 years since my son Jeff started at U of A. And of course this last week I have heard more as they grieve his loss. I only met Pegler a few times at New Trier and U of A events because he was a friend of my daughter. The first time, pre-prom pictures, he instantly stood out with his contagious personality and engaging manner, and after asking who is that?, the answer was simply - Pegler, and I never forgot him. This is a tragedy. Pegler, may you rest in peace and find the eternal joy you so deserve. Watch over your family and all your many friends as you always did with your love and kindness.

Our deepest condolences to the entire family and may you find peace in knowing how much Alex was truly loved and the positive impact he had on others. We will always remember Alex. He brought a sense of joy and energy when he walked into our home. He will forever hold a special place in our hearts. He was always sharing his stories, hopes and dreams. We know how excited he was to be coaching and fulfilling one of his desires through his love of hockey. We are so grateful we got to see Alex in action behind the bench just recently. He will be greatly missed.

Peggy, sending you so much love. Alex always knew how to make Christmas Eve much more memorable and his humor and positive energy lit up any room. I still remember us all singing "White Christmas" in a circle last Christmas. We love and miss him so much,and sending you so many hugs.
