Dear Mitchell Family,
I met Bryan when I was a third year medical student and began a four-week rotation with him. I cannot express in words how gratefull I am for that experience. He taught me so much about Forensics and Pathology... and life. We shared much in common, including a love for music, and had many intellectual conversations during those long drives to Bloomington and back. It was during this rotation that I made the desision that someday, I wanted to become a Forensic Pathologist as well. He enjoyed his work so much and it showed. Now, 4 1/2 years later, I have completed my Pathology Residency and am a Forensic Pathology Fellow - I could not have done it without him. Thank you Bryan and may God Bless you and your family!

I just wanted to say that I thought of Bryan today while listening to some music today and I smiled. I thought about how much he loved music and how he changed and opened my mind to many different kinds of great music. Miss you Bryan!

Dear Mary and kids
I don't know where to begin, I met Bryan when my brother Tom brought him home from school their freshman year. He tortured me as if I was his own sister and I loved him as if her were my brother. He was a wonderful man who touched so many lives. Be at peace knowing he is with you and watching over you always.

Dear Mitchell Family,
These memories are just a few that are on the top of the many fond moments and memories I have had working with Bryan.
I first met Bryan when I was working for Will Co. I thought who is this guy coming to due an autopsy in a t-shirt, shorts and sandles? But as he began to do his work, I realized it didn't matter what this man was wearing he was smart and knew his job. He provided me with so much information everytime we worked together on a case, it helped to make me a better death investigator.
He loved his family and was so proude of his children. He talked on how smart Mary was and that was why he married her. He meet her in college and as soon as he saw her he knew he was going to marry her, and the rest is history.
Bryan was always ther to provide advise if asked. Whewn my father was dying on Fathers Day 2002, Bryan helped reasure me the decisions I was making were the right ones regarding my dads death and I'm so greatful for his help that day.
I am just one of many who are blessed to have known and worked with such a remarkable man.

Dear Mitchell family!
I wish i knew the words to make all feel ok...but as i know from losing my father in 1999..no words are invented.
Thanks to my dear friend Joe Vana i was invited for a few wonderful days to Chicago.
One of my strongest memories from that week is the time i spent with Dr Bryan, we had some amazing talks about his work and he really took the time to answer a lot of my questions since i don't meet people with his line of work often.
We had very inspired moments in the studio, wonderful dinners and he gave me a black shirt that i lent from him for the photo shoot and i fell in love with...it was a very expensive shirt from Nordstroms!!!
Bryan was one of most amazing persons i've ever met and it really hit what an impact he made on me when i quickly had tears falling after reading Joe's mail about his passing, i only got to spend a few days with him...you had a life time!!!
So i can never understand your pain in this loss, just share my love for a wonderful human we were all blessed to share time with in this life.
My deepest sympathies to you all
Your friend

Mitchells-
I was a medical student who rotated through Bryan's forensic pathology service back in 2003. He was an amazing guy and a very intelligent pathologist. I have to say that the forensic pathology rotation was my favorite rotation of my entire medical school career and I have always recommended to other following students to take that rotation. On top of that, Bryan was an amazing person... very likable and an amazing friend. I am so sorry for your loss as I have just heard the news. May God be with you all always.

It was a privledge to work with and learn from Dr. Bryan. His friendship, sense of humor and ability to be so kind is a gift I will cherish.
