My name is Marc Matthews,(Genealogist) Carrie Tuttle possibly was my distant cousin going back to William Tuttle & Elizabeth Matthews of England 1600's, and later (prox) 1935 migrated to New Haven, Connecticut where our Matthews line merged with the Tuttles
. I am sorry I was unable to make contact with her or her family before she passed (so young). If any of the Tuttle's see this note and feel we are possibly connected back in Early Connecticut, please contact me. @ [email protected]

About five years ago, I was working on a t.v. commercial at the Chicago Historical Society as a scenic painter. And much to my surprise I was not the only painter on the job. Carrie was hired to replicate about a dozen or more master paintings for the shoot. Of course, she did a very convincing job. There we were, both of us on our knees at opposite ends of a long gallery room...each of us with our tint racks, furiously mixing colors. She for her fine art paintings and me for wall colors.

This was the first time I met Carrie. Since that time,I have worked on many jobs with Carrie and had grown extremely fond of her. I held her in very high regard. And much like a pupil with their favorite teacher, I was always compelled to try and impress her while working as a scenic painter under her art direction.

For a fairly petite and quiet person, Carrie occupied alot of space. Her silences seemed to swell with meaning. She was immeasurably talented and warmhearted. Carrie Tuttle was a rare find. I will miss her immensely.

What a beautiful mass, a wonderful salute and stunning family. Jennifer, you are as beautiful as your work. It was nice to have finally met you.For so long, all I ever saw of you and Abby was your talent represented. And Jamie, you are not the little girl I used to drive around with Kady and play chauffer to. Please stay in touch, should you choose to. Thank you for allowing me to remember Carrie in my special way and to share a laugh!

My daughter had an idea how she wanted her bedroom painted. We had an idea who could do it. Carrie showed up armed with sponges, rags and brushes with a boxful of pints and quarts of assorted greens and yellows, a happy co-conspirator. "Oh no, don't patch the cracks. Cracks make it cooler." As always in things of art, Carrie was right. It was cooler with cracks. Never argue with the master.

Carrie did the same in our bedroom, only in creams and yellows and tans. The cracks, of course, were untouched. And faded sunflowers stretch about the window. Each time I enter the room, the light plays it differently. But in each case the desired result is the same. A calming, soothing feeling. A comfort. A place of rest. Home.

Carrie was a joy in every way. An absolute delight to be with, work with, laugh with. I hadn't seen her in years, but her creative spirit greets me every morning when I rise and bids me rest when my day is over. We are all so much richer for having known Carrie Tuttle.

To be so close to people all through high school and then to lose touch with them, think of them often, only to hear of them at times like this. Mr. and Mrs. Tuttle: one of the funnest times of my life was spent in your home with Carrie on New Years Eve. Amy and Susie are you still around? I still have those memoirs we wrote of that night!

Although cut short, her life was not wasted. And she leaves behind many fond memories and legacies.

May you all be well and loved.

Anyone can reach me at 847-438-8403. I will be at the mass on the 24th, please let me know if there is a wake. The church had no information.

My memories of Carrie Tuttle are wonderful ones. I am a friend of Jamie's, from high school. Carrie went to New Trier as well. Carrie was always well respected in the photography department, just like her sister, Jamie. Jamie and Carrie were extremely close in age and in friendship and love. Jamie and Carrie did everything together. As Abby once said, " They are like Irish Twins." Dear Tuttle's, I am so sorry for your loss and for the loss of of a wonderful, creative, loving and beautiful woman. She knew how to make people laugh and smile. All my respect and love, Amy Kralovec Cook
