David Brian Calandra, M.D., age 52, beloved husband of Marcia J. Calandra, nee Huna; loving father of Ashley, Nicole, Michelle and
Patricia Calandra; dear son of the late Joseph C., M.D. and Patricia Calandra; fond brother of Joseph D., M.D. (Mary)
Calandra, Susan (Tom) Sylvester and Carolyn (Tom) Selsor; dear son-in-law of Jack and Mildred Huna; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation Friday 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Isaac Jogues Parish Center, 306 E. Fourth St., Hinsdale. Family and friends will meet Saturday for 10 a.m. Mass at St. Isaac Jogues Church. Dear Mrs. Calandra and Family, I just heard that Dr. Calandra passed, I am so very sad for your loss. He was one of the best Cardiothoracic surgeons I ever worked with. He treated everyone with the utmost respect, all his patients loved and trusted him with their lives. What a legacy!! your all in my prayers! I know everyone at Hinsdale CVICU misses him. I am so very sorry for your loss. Dr. Calandra helped my husband, Sol Mastro, many years ago giving him 6 more good years. Our family was blessed to have the time. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

David Calandra was an exceptional man. His caring and concern for others, his unique abilities as a surgeon, his gentleness and giftedness in every way raises him above the others in his life of service. My heart goes out to you at this time of loss. David fought a good fight and we will see him again some day. May you be comforted in the knowledge of God's care for you and may He grant you peace now and always.

Our deepest sympathies reach out to the family. Dr. Calandra performed open heart (with only a 10% chance of survival) on me on New Years Eve 1999, I am still here and deeply saddened by this news. My family speaks of him often in regards to his tremendous talent as well as caring disposition.

I worked with Dr. Calandra in the early 1990's. He wrote a wonderful letter of appreciation for me and sent it to my manager. I will never forget what he said and most importantly the fact that he took the time to acknowledge me in writing. I still have that letter! My deepest condolences and prayers go out to your family.

I was so sorry to hear of my favorite cardiac surgeon that I worked with and became very fond of at Hinsdale Hospital. He made me feel very special and called me the "Token Southerner". My thoughts and prayers go out to all his family and many friends that will miss him and his warm personality.

I am so sorry for your loss. David was such a good man. I remember how he helped with my mother, Diane (Calandra) Hamilton, while she was ill. He is was a blessing to many and I am sure he is with my mom in heaven. May God bless you in these difficult times.
