David Calandra was an exceptional man. His caring and concern for others, his unique abilities as a surgeon, his gentleness and giftedness in every way raises him above the others in his life of service. My heart goes out to you at this time of loss. David fought a good fight and we will see him again some day. May you be comforted in the knowledge of God's care for you and may He grant you peace now and always.

Our deepest sympathies reach out to the family. Dr. Calandra performed open heart (with only a 10% chance of survival) on me on New Years Eve 1999, I am still here and deeply saddened by this news. My family speaks of him often in regards to his tremendous talent as well as caring disposition.

I worked with Dr. Calandra in the early 1990's. He wrote a wonderful letter of appreciation for me and sent it to my manager. I will never forget what he said and most importantly the fact that he took the time to acknowledge me in writing. I still have that letter! My deepest condolences and prayers go out to your family.

Dear Marcie and Family,
We were very sorry to hear of Dave's passing. He fought a long hard battle this past year and this was not easy for him or all of you. We consider the Calandra family part of our family and send our sincere condolences to you. There are few people that have accomplished so much for so many people as Dave did. Both of you have left your imprint on the Center and Homan. You are all in our prayers and thoughts.
With our Deepest Sympathy,
