When Dave was at OLPH in Glenview, I remember him during a snow storm driving a pickup truck plowing the church parking lot. A wonderful person who always reached out to people with something good to say.
May you enjoy paradise in the company of God.

Father Dave,
So very sorry to learn of your passing. I wanted so much to visit you at your parish this summer, but now that never will be. You are a great priest, friend and special man of God.
We've known each other from days at St. Mary of Celle Parish in Berwyn and I have so many fond memories of you, Father Cy, and Father Ray...you were a great team leading your parishioners through so many Holy Days, Holidays, and most of all the Sacraments.
God grant you peace, Father Dave, you will always remain in my prayers and please, Father, if you should see my Jack in Heaven, bless him and help give him peace too.
With Deep Sorrow,

Karen and I would like to send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Dowdle family. Father Dave was a great cousin and friend to my family, especially in providing much-needed comfort when we lost both of our parents in short order a few years ago.
We will miss you, Dave, but so grateful for the great memories we shared together.

Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
