David Powell Obituary

David Alexander Powell, MD, age 77, passed away on September 10, 2021, in Chicago, Illinois. A graduate of Carthage College, Vanderbilt University, University of Vienna, Austria and the Chicago Psychoanalytic Institute, he built a busy psychiatric practice. He enjoyed helping patients, attending theater, and traveling the world. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Behner, three brothers, John Powell, Paul Powell (Carol Weiss), Jim Powell (Mira Chuang), and sister Maggie Powell Day (Jim Stephens). He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard A. Powell, MD and Mary Etta (Holmes) Powell and brother, Bruce Powell. A private memorial and graveside service is being planned. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate in his memory to Recovery on Water

A friend recommended Dr. Powell to us 15 years ago. He helped so many people I personally know. He will be missed so much. I am still in shock hearing he is no longer with us. We could always count on him and I only hope he knew how much we loved and appreciated him. He was a wonderful, brilliant man.
