I was saddened to learn of Dean´s passing. Dean was a wonderful attorney, and a funny and smart man. I watched him present our case in front of an appeals court in Washington DC across from the White House and it was an experience that I´ll never forget as Dean did a masterful job.

Dear Nancy and Lauren; I was so sorry to hear about Dean this morning. I´m sorry we are not in Chicago so we could have attended the memorial. I have so many fantastic, fun memories of our ski trips together. I wouldn´t have missed them for the world. We had such fun! Dean was always looking out for our fun and our well being. I will always remember walking through Ohare hearing "Bongo" on the intercom when he convinced an agent to call out my name. Yikes! So many fond memories of our time together from ski trips, to Christmas parties, to our wedding. My thoughts and prayers are with you. He will be greatly missed and always remembered. Bo and I are so saddened about the loss of Dean to Nancy, Lauren and family. We have many fond memories of our ski trips organized by Dean. He had a bigger than life personality, intelligent, funny and kind. He was joyful, always made sure people were enjoying themselves and had a twinkle in his eye. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

I worked with Dean maybe 8 or 9 years ago on the client side. To his whole family, my most sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers. Dean was what I hope the legal profession could be more often, and was a genuine gentleman, caring for his family and others. I'm very much saddened from a personal perspective, and was looking forward to reconnecting more with Dean this year with some trips to Chicago.

Nancy, Lauren and extended family -- Please accept the sincere condolences of the Rooney clan on Dean's passing. I trust that the many, many fond memories you have of all the good times will ease the pain of your unspeakable loss. For the past few days I have been revisiting my many fond memories of Dean in an attempt to come to grips with the very sad news. I can report that every memory was, indeed, a good one involving smiles, joy, good-natured teasing and a mutual appreciation for the many years of friendship between our two families. I plan to attend the service in May. Until then, I am confident we can all say to Dean, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." He was a great example for us all!

I was Dean's associate, and then his young partner, at D'Ancona & Pflaum. I simply loved working for him. He represented our clients with extraordinary energy and passion. Even more, he had tremendous fun practicing law, and he made it fun for the people who worked for him, too.

As I've gotten older, I've found that the lessons Dean taught have stayed with me, and I will always be grateful to him. Sincere condolences to his family -- Dean will be missed and remembered.

Dean always seemed larger than life to me. Getting to spend our summer vacations at Wampler's Lake was a real treat! I always looked forward to having Dean (and his parents) visit our home in Skokie while he attended Northwestern University. I remember riding along when my parents took him back to campus, and also remember his personalized green mustang! I am so thankful that he stopped by to visit the four Rooney siblings on our last visit with Mick and Carm. Rest in peace, Dean. You have made the world a better place.
