In Loving Memory of Nancy Linnert Dickie
Nancy Linnert Dickie (DOB: 7/24/1947 and DOD: 2/12/26), a woman of intellect, grace, and enduring strength, passed away recently in
Brooklyn, Michigan. A longtime resident of Evanston, Illinois, before moving permanently to Michigan, Nancy leaves behind a legacy defined by her love of family, the arts in various forms, and her profound resilience in the face of life's greatest challenges.
She earned her undergraduate degree from Grove City College and taught elementary school briefly before pursuing a career as a flight attendant during the glamorous days of air travel, a role that provided her with the opportunity to travel extensively. During one of those trips, she met Dean Arthur Dickie, whom she later married, making a home and raising her family in
Evanston, IL. She earned a Master of Arts in English Literature, a study that informed her passion for reading fiction and poetry throughout her life. She became an accomplished photographer, winning regional awards, a watercolorist, and an enthusiastic guitar player.
More importantly, she was an active mother to her two daughters, Lauren Hadley Dickie and Megan Elise Dickie, sharing with them her passion for exploring nature through hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. Both daughters eventually returned to Nancy's beloved Colorado wilderness. Later in life, MS progressively eroded Nancy's ability to pursue her outdoor adventures, so she focused on photography and watercolors. To the end, Nancy retained her critical eye and wry wit.
Nancy was preceded in death by Dean Dickie (DOB: 5/30/44 and DOD: 3/26/23), beloved husband and a respected attorney, her cherished daughter, Megan Elise Dickie, (DOB: 12/30/1981 and DOD: 3/10/17), her dear sister, Judy (née Linnert) Brennan (DOB: 10/14/1952 and DOD: 9/21/2024) ), as well as her mother, (Dolores E. Linnert), and father, (Homer O. Linnert).
Left to mourn her are Nancy's beloved daughter, Lauren Hadley Dickie, her brother-in-law William Brennan, her nephews Sean and Scott Brennan, and a host of friends she kept from every walk of life.
A celebration of life will be held on June 26, 2026, at Nancy's house on Wampler's Lake, located at 1262 Lakeshore Drive,
Brooklyn, Michigan. Details are forthcoming and will be provided via Facebook.
