Oh Kathleen, I'm so very sorry, both for the loss of your beloved Jim, and for not seeing this email until now (at the end of the year.) I will never hear the song "I can only give you love that lasts forever" without thinking of you and Jim. Hugs, my friend. Again, I am so very sorry to hear this.

I worked for Jim when he purchased one of his first projects in Country Club Hills back in 1983! I was fresh out of high school and not sure what direction I wanted to go....... I had three unbelievable mentors in my life and Jim was one of them. His advice and confidence were always taken to heart and much of my success is because of a few men like Jim! God speed my friend! My sincere condolences to the family, I never met any of you, but I know how awesome he was!!

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

To leave behind such a legacy is a true testament of inner strength. We didn't have the chance to meet James but we know him through his daughter, Adrienne. He must be so proud of all his children. I am proud to call Adrienne a true friend for life.

The world is a lot less colorful without Mr. Ward in it ! For the last 35 years I have enjoyed his friendship, tutelage, encouragement and especially being in his golf group ! What I will miss most is his sharp wit and the attention he gave to whatever we were discussing together ...be it Eastern philosophy, my love and his hate of the thrill of riding a motorcycle or his advice and assistance financially when I started my mortgage company ! JJW...GBNF ! Also, because you were so good to me all of these years I've decided not to pursue payment of the book I ordered on Amazon for you, "The TAO of Physics", from your estate !

Our hearts and prayers are with Adrienne, Kathleen and all of Jim's large loving family and many friends. On the Mount Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted." Still the pain of loss lasts a very long time. Please welcome the comfort from everyone and refresh your fondest memories every day -- now and the years ahead. Jesus also on the Mount, "Blessed are the pure of heart (thinking of Jim Ward with others) -- they shall see God." He is conversing with God right now. As us Irish say in the native tongue, "Dia dhuit." God bless you all.

Got to know Jim through my father, Matt McCarthy. After his untimely death, Jim would check-in each year with one of his famous breakfast offers. How early is too early, Id ask? How about 7:00 am, Jim would reply. Over grapefruit juice & pancakes, Jim would regale me with stories about the Patch. Best story I ever heard was the family feud over a fraudulent Thomas Cole painting. Classic. Thanks for the memories, Jim. Say hello to the Giant for me. - Jim McCarthy
