Jason G. Bowers, 24, of Chicago, formerly of Belvidere, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 in his home following a tragic accident. Born Oct. 16, 1982 in Rutherfordton, NC, the son of John Harold and Kathleen, nee Elliott, Bowers. Jason was employed as a Financial Advisor for 1st America Bank of Elk Grove, IL. In his spare time, he enjoyed outdoor activities including rock climbing, snow boarding, whitewater rafting and jet skiing. Jason is a graduate of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL, with a B.A. in Business Administration. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen (Jim Bowers) Bowers; three brothers, Joe Zobal, Robert Zobal and John Bowers, all of Belvidere; a sister, Deborah (Martin) Bowers of Rockford; 10 nieces and nephews; two grandmothers, Elizabeth Neumier and Barbara Byers; many aunts, uncles and cousins, especially Tim Bowers. Jason was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Greg Zobal; an uncle, Tim Bowers; paternal grandfather, Raymond Bowers; and maternal grandfathers, Jim Elliott and Everett Nelson. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2007 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, The Rev. Dr. Robert Kopp, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2007 in the funeral home. Memorials to the family in his name.
