JOHN KILROY Obituary

John P. Kilroy, an 84-year-old Gurnee resident, formerly a long-time Mt. Prospect resident, passed away Tuesday night, Aug. 23, 2011, in Libertyville. He was born in Chicago to the now late Michael and Colletta, (nee) Mattingly, Kilroy, on Sept. 3, 1926. John was the loving husband of Geraldine, (nee) Harmuth, for 60 years; beloved father of Kathy (Larry) Kowalski, Pat (Ralph) Bednarz, John Kilroy, Colette (Jamey) Sheridan and Dan (Beth) Kilroy; cherished grandfather of Karen (Ryan), Keith (Nancy), Lauren, Kelly, Kent (Leslie), Bryan (Lauren), Stacey (Evan), Katie, Zhanna, Jack, Yuri, Quin, Declan, Johnny, Daniel and Matthew; dear great-grandfather of Ethan, Emily, Anabelle and Kaia. Friends of the family may join them for memorial visitation on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd., Gurnee, IL 60031, with the memorial Mass commencing at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be held privately at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL. Memorial contributions to the American Heart Association, 208 S. LaSalle St., Chicago, IL 60604, would be appreciated. Arrangements were entrusted to STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, 410 E. Dear Dan, Beth and the rest of the Kilroys,

I was very sorry to read about your Dad. I only met him a couple of times, but he seemed like a great guy. I remember thinking I would like him to meet my Dad because I think they would have a lot in common. They might be sharing a heavenly round of golf right now, since my Dad died on Aug. 18.
