to The Family
My condolences. I know that your hearts are heavy with grief. At Psalm 34:18 God said "he is near to those that are broken at heart and those who are crushed is spirit he saves." I hope that this will bring the family a measure of comfort in this time of deep sorrow.
You Have my deepest sympathy.

While I did not know him personally, Mr. Stroger was a great friend of my Uncle, Commander John D. Chamberlin, Jr. (Ret. Chicago Police Department) for most of my life. On behalf of Commander's Family (Chamberlin/Parker), I extend my sincere sympathy to the Family of John Stroger. My deepest sympathy to the Stroger family. I wish you peace in your time of sorrow. I knew President Stroger since the 1970's when we formed a Census working group for the City of Chicago. Every decade, he continued to support Census Bureau efforts in order to achieve a better count and better living standards for his community. He was the standard of excellence as a public servant. President Stroger was sincerely dedicated to the well-being of the people of the City of Chicago. He was a friend, not only to me personally, but to the Census Bureau as well.

I knew President John Stroger for nearly forty and for all those years he remained the "Great Johnny", as one of his close friends used to address him. I was not a relative and I did not live in his ward but when I started practicing law in a suite where he maintained an office, he was unselfish with his assistance. I will remember him as a kind, caring person and a dedicated public servant. He tried assist people in all walks of life and he made special efforts to assist young people trying to get started. I am sure he knew how much I appreciated his friendship; I will miss him.

John Stroger was arguably the most compassionate and inclusive politician in Cook County History. It was a honor for me to have Known benevolent leaders such as John Stroger and George Dunne. They personified compassion in action. God bless the Stroger family.
