Dobbs, Kenneth Allin
Kenneth "Ken" Allin Dobbs. Age 74 of Morris and formerly Cincinnati, OH and Oak Park, IL, passed away Saturday November 21, 2009 at Hillside Rehabilitation and Care Center in Yorkville. Born June 21, 1935 in Oak Park, Ken was a son of the late Erwin and Janice Dunne-Dobbs. He was raised and educated in Chicago and on June 25, 1955 Ken married Mary F. DeDual in Chicago. Ken began his career working for Illinois Tool and Die Company until gaining employment with Anocut Engineering Company of Chicago and Elk Grove Village, Illinois. He was later self-employed and President of ABRA Enterprises, which was a manufacturing company for the aircraft industry for 20 years. During those years he traveled internationally and worked closely with similar Japanese manufacturing industries. Most recently Ken worked for Lehr Precision in Cincinnati until his retirement. In his younger years, Ken enjoyed playing basketball and was known for his love of woodworking. He was involved with a group in Cincinnati that restored a World War II B17 aircraft and he enjoyed Hawaii, as well as the memorable travels with his wife Mary. Ken was proud of his strong work ethic, which has been carried on by his children and he was a huge Chicago Cubs, Bears and Bulls fan. Survivors include his loving wife Mary; children, Gary (Susan) Dobbs of Mazon, Dawn Dobbs of North Canton, OH and Karen (Michael) Greenholt of Yorkville; grandchildren, Sasha Dobbs of San Francisco, CA, Mallory Dobbs of Morris, Kelly Gundberg of Joliet, Kenneth Rickelman and Dylan Rickelman, both of North Canton, OH and Jordan Greenholt, Lindsey Greenholt and Ava Greenholt, all of Yorkville; great-grandchildren, Taylor Gundberg and Tyler Gundberg; step-grandchildren, Alexandria Miller and James Miller, both of Mazon and one brother John (Jeannette) Dobbs of Wisconsin and Henderson, NV. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Robert Dobbs. Visitation and Video Tribute were held Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Reeves Funeral Home in Morris. Deacon Dennis Kobs officiated. Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made as gifts in Ken's memory to the American Diabetes Association or Northshore Animal League.
