Maureen Moher Riley (
Lake Forest, Illinois), age 90, was born September 28, 1932, in
Boston, Massachusetts. She was the second of three children born to the late Arthur Joseph Moher and Ina Batal Moher. She grew up as the middle child of three children in
Wellesley, Massachusetts. She attended Beaver Country Day School in
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, and Briarcliff College in
Briarcliff Manor, New York. Maureen was a loving and devoted mother to her five children: Gabriel Georges Durot II (Ann), Jennifer Charlotte Durot, Michael Moher Durot (Anne), Robert Charles Durot (Kathryn), and Andrew John Durot. She met the challenges of corporate transfers and relocating her family from Massachusetts to Montreal, France, and Illinois. Maureen is survived by her sister, Charlotte Moher Giblin (Gerrald), her five children and three daughters-in-law, thirteen grandchildren-Elizabeth Maureen Andrew, Elizabeth Durot Gonzalez (Anthony), Caroline Ruth Andrew, Hilary Durot Miele (Andy), Molly Durot Hunley (Scott), Mathew Moher Durot, Gabriel Georges Durot III (Kelly), John Marcel Durot (Carly), Natalie Maureen Durot, Peter Andrew Durot, Nicholas Andrew Durot, Oliver Jack Durot, Madeline Miller Durot- and six great-grandchildren-Alexander Gabriel Gonzalez, Bonnie Louise Miele, Caroline Shaw Gonzalez, Margot Grace Miele, Rory Moher Hunley, and Robert Marcel Andrew. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Maureen was preceded in death by her second husband, James Edward Riley, her son Marcel Charles Durot III, her grandson, Robert Michael Andrew, her daughter-in-law Melissa Morris Durot, her brother Arthur Keefe Moher, her sister-in-law Cornelia Dowd Moher, and her parents, Arthur, and Ina Moher. In addition to spending time with her family, Maureen enjoyed spending time with her lifelong friends. She loved playing bridge, knitting, and needlepointing. She attended classes at the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Senior Center. She loved watching college sports-including March Madness-professional golf tournaments, horse racing, hockey, Jeopardy, and the news on television. Maureen had a way of making other people feel appreciated. She knew the names and something about everyone she met, including bank tellers, grocery store clerks, the dry cleaner, restaurant servers, and various salespeople. She was greeted by name everywhere she went. People often remarked upon her positive, cheerful attitude and friendly smile. Her memory was as sharp as a tack until her last breath. She planned absolutely everything and gave specific directions about her wishes up until the end of her life. She lived a long and fulfilling life and passed away peacefully at home on July 30, 2023, surrounded by loving family members and caregivers. Her caregiver, Penka Kostova, and Dr. Mark A. Greenberger became like family and made Maureen comfortable during her final years. Maureen's memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mothers Trust Foundation (
