Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I could not believe my eyes when my husband showed me the announcement in the WSJ (1/14/09). Thank you Todd for posting the “Loving Tribute.” As a past employee of Steve’s, I had the utmost respect (and admiration!) of Steve, his family (Mr. Good, Jami and the boys, I‘m so sorry), and office staff (Cynthia, the best-ever assistant!). I remember his Holiday letters starting with “Greetings and Salutations!” Rest in peace.

I'm sad to think of Steve not being around any more. He brought life to any event. I will remember him fondly -- his smile and good stories, his willingness to share his knowledge, his generosity. To Steven's family, I offer my deepest condolences in your time of grief. I had the wonderful opportunity to know Steve but for a few short years. What an impression he left on people. He was the most gregarious person I knew. He was kind, caring, accommodating, forgiving, honest, and had a huge heart. He was always smiling, and very proud of his family, and his accomplishments. His qualities were significant, and he will be remembered for them. He will be missed greatly. May your family find peace in knowing he is in a better place.

January 7, 2009

Though I only knew Steve briefly he was a person hard to forget. He and I were among several high school students who, on the summer of 1976, went to Europe for 5 weeks. I was the kid from the "city", Chicago, and he was the suburbanite. As we traveled about in countless buses, trains, ship, and planes we briefly were best of friends. He was always smiling and gregarious.
I knew he would follow his father's footsteps the way he talked that summer, not in bragging fashion.
I'm sorry for the loss of a son, husband, father, and friend.

To the entire Good family, My sincere Condolences and Sympathies to you all. I haven't seen Steve since we were, I believe in 3rd grade at Romona School in Wilmette. he and I were buddies and he used to sit behind me in class. Steve would always poke me in the back with his pencil. I can still picture Steve in his red velour turtleneck with the zipper in the front. Even then Steve was always happy and smiling and pretty mischivieous, I might add. I remember being sad when Steve and his family moved to Evanston, because he was my first friend to move away. Though I hadn't seen Steve in all these years, I was not surprised by his success and philanthropy. I was deeply saddened when I read of his passing. I told my wife that my friend had died. After 43 years and no contact he was my childhood friend. God rest his soul and may God comfort you all in your sorrow.
