SUSAN LINKE Obituary

Susan "Suzi" Linke, 59, of Kohler, WI, passed away in the presence of her husband, children and friends on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center from complications of pneumonia and cancer. Suzi was born May 10, 1950, in Evanston, IL, to John and Marilyn Van Dam. Suzi is survived by her husband, Bob Linke; beloved children, Samantha and Matthew Schwimmer (from her previous marriage to David Schwimmer); mother, Marilyn; and brother, David; Suzi was preceded in death by her father, John. Never being the one that was deterred from anything, Suzi lived a life full of precious moments. After her diagnosis of multiple myeloma, Suzi became an active cancer patient advocate and was instrumental in implementing a cancer patient newsletter and support group. Suzi always put other patients' care and comfort ahead of her own. In her own words: "Not a day goes by that I don't (literally) say a prayer of thanks (to whoever will listen) for the exceptional medical expertise and community support that surrounds each of us living with cancer. If I have ever missed thanking any one, please consider this an official 'Shout Out': my cadre of fabulous doctors, nurses, and staff (with apologies, it should be noted, to my husband, children, family and friends, who have been on the receiving end of much shouting already!)" Memorial services to be held at Bella Via restaurant, 847-681-8300, 1899 Second St. in Highland Park, IL, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29. A memorial fund has been established in Suzi's name for the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund (SCCCF).

I will remember Suzi's great sense of humor. She could make me laugh about everything....even cancer! She knew how to keep it "real"! Such a strong, beautiful woman. I will miss her greatly!

Suzi made going to work fun!
Although it's been quite a few years since we were co workers, the 'gang' kept in touch & made time for each other in spite of our separate hectic lives. Our visits to Kohler with Suzi & Bob during the summers will always be with us. Suzi's vibrant personality will be sorely missed.

Suzi was a vibrant, beautiful person who was a joy to all who knew her. Even with her many health issues the last five years, it was rare indeed to hear a complaint. She took so much joy in Matthew and Samantha and was so proud of them. Bob could not have loved her more, and the feeling was mutual. She was a generous and warm friend who will be very much missed.
