Sally, our deepest condolences for losing Tom. We will always remember fondly what a gifted architect & builder he was, but also such a warm, caring & fun person. You may recall him egging on the bus driver who was driving us from Hawkeye´s to a Blackhawk´s game one night to try to roll the bus. I still laugh thinking about that. He taught us all so much. We are forever grateful. Hugs to you. From Bob & Kim Gallo, and all of his friends at Power.

Dear Sally:
One of my Navy Pier classmates texted me this morning (Sunday) about Tom's passing, and although I knew he was older than me, it still took me by surprise and hit me pretty hard. Although I left Chicago in 1976, and have not seen Tom or you in almost 50 years, Tom, in particular remains one of my strongest and best memories from those days and our Greek Town dinners after we graduated.
Tom, long with Ken Schroeder, we're in my first design studio, and I still have a vivid image of Tom sitting on top of a big drafting table with a white t-shirt on with sleeves rolled up and a pack of cigarettes rolled up inside of one sleeve. He looked older than we did (19 probably to his 25) and he had tattoos!
You may remember that in 1970 or 71, I asked Tom to join me on a project I was hired for doing an addition and renovations to the McAndrew Football Stadium at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He was instrumental in helping me design the site access plan and other aspects of the project. Before that, I helped George Hinds on some specifications when, I believe, Tom and Ken were partners with George - or at least were working together.
Great memories from those days. I think I remember going out the the Fifth Peg club on Armitage to hear one of the first public performances of a young John Prine. Tom had heard about him so we went. This must have been pre-Sally, but I'm not sure.
I also remember going to the Halstead Street area where Tom had his apartment after we all graduated - in an old cardtable factory?
I just wanted to share some fond memories of Tom and say how sad I am at his passing. I would be at services on Monday, but I live in New York where I have Ben since 1981. My best to you and your family.
