I am so saddened to lose Vera. I am proud to have called her mentor and friend. She was a League of Women Voter of LaGrange stalwart since 1969; she will be sorely missed.

I met Vera shortly after moving in here at Bethlehem Woods. She would sign new comers up for voting and that is how I met her. After that, I would meet her every weekend in the the hallway on the way to church. As the hallway got longer (at least seemingly so), both Vera and my lungs got worse and we had trouble making it to church and then back home again. I haven't been to church for over 2 months and last week I thought of Vera often. Thinking what a lovely lady she was, how I was so happy to have met such a lovely lady, wondered how Vera was doing and if she was thinking of me. When I read Vera had died and Vera was now with our Lord and she should be breathing easier. May the Lord be close you Vera and keep you in the palm of his hands. You will be in my thoughts always.
