Margaret Pahland Obituary

MARGARET PAHLAND Margaret Pahland was born in 1940 in Washington DC. She received degrees from The College of William and Mary, and Georgetown University in science and microbiology. She came to California to do medical research at the University of California. Margaret met Bill through the couple who managed apartment complexes in San Francisco. They were married at Stanford University on June 7, 1969 and moved to San Mateo where son William Jr was born in 1970 and son Michael was born in 1972. The family relocated to Chico in 1982 where Bill managed nearby hydroelectric developments. Margaret enjoyed their second home on the shores of Lake Almanor where they spent many days summer and winter. Bill retired in 1994 and they traveled the world until COVID hit. She also looked forward to visiting her many friends and attending local dance club activities and other organizations. Margaret was very attached to the family dog-who usually could be found lying next to her as she read or watched TV. Survivors include her Husband, two Sons and their Wives, and three Grandchildren-all whom she dearly loved. Margaret will be missed by all. There will be a grave- side service at the Chico Cemetery on Saturday, October 15th at 11am. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Butte Humane Society. https://buttehumane.org

Anyone that knew my mother in law Margaret, was showed such kindness, compassion, intelligence, and class. She had the most gentle demeanor, full of wisdom, just an incredible soul. Sister, student, friend, wife, mother and grandmother, she did it all so effortlessly and touched so many so deeply.

Chico was a better place because of her! I will continue to visit the many memorial spots where she sprinkled a bit of her wisdom and generosity throughout her 40 years in Chico. Margaret was the most caring and giving human being I've ever met, truly my mentor that taught me the importance of giving back.

Heaven got the most beautiful and incredible woman, she was such a blessing in ours and so many lives. As we prepare for her celebration of life the one thing that continues to be resonated deep in my heart is something that she would remind me:

"Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if only one remembers to turn on the light."

I love you Mom - ~Kolleen

Margaret, May to me, is a childhood friend! Though we reside on opposite coasts, we were often in contact! It´s hard to think about life without her. She will be missed by many!! Happy I had several visits with her and Bill. Prayers and love to all
