PAULA (DADO) CROWELL
Paula (Dado) Crowell was born on May 21, 1922 and passed away peacefully at her home in Orland, CA on July 31, 2008. She was preceded in death in 2001 by her loving husband of 57 years, Donald H. Crowell.
She is survived by her devoted son, Tom Crowell of Orland and sister-in-laws, Arline Dado of Orland and Jean Crowell of Oakland and numerous nieces and nephews. Paula was preceded in death by here siblings, Marie McGuire, Jean Gilmore, Leo T. Dado and Alvin Dado.
The third child of Leo F. and Marie Dado, Paula was a life long resident of Orland. She was a 1940 graduate of Orland High School. Long before the term "career woman" emerged, Paula chose and enjoyed a full career as bookkeeper in charge at Poultry Producers and later at the Bell Carter Plant where upon she retired. In 2002, Paula received a special recognition award for 50 years of membership and appreciation from the Orland Women's Improvement Club for her civic minded dedication and service to her community.
Paula loved to travel throughout the world with her husband at here side, and many happy days were spent with family and friends at the Mill Creek cabin that she and Don built in 1951. Ahead of her time in all things domestic, Paula was admired for here home decorating and gourmet cooking skills and was known for entertaining with ease and style. She was an avid bridge player and loved to play golf as well, never passing up a challenging game with her girlfriends.
Paula will be remembered for her love of her husband, Don and son, Tom and her tireless devotion to her extended family. Paula possessed a witty sense of humor, and a great outlook on life. She was generous of spirit and widely respected in the community.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Paula's life on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary Chapel at 825 A Street in Orland. A reception will follow at the First Lutheran Church. There will be a private interment.
Donations may be made in Paula's name to the Orland Women's Improvement Club, the Orland High School Scholarship Fund or the Orland Fire Department, c/o F.D. Sweet & Son Mortuary.
